I have been writing inspiring and empowering books for children since 2009. My self-published work has reached more than 50 countries and I have sold more than 18,000 copies. I truly believe that a sense of self-worth, cooperation and gratitude can be cultivated at an early age through reading books such as these, THE AMAZING! TRILOGY was completed in 2022, illustrated by Tanya Harrington. In 2023 I printed 2000 more copies of My Magical Night Mare, illustrated by March Hutchinson. I also have 400 copies of WHEN GRAMMA GIGGLED, illustrated by Irene MacLennan. I was blessed to find these three amazing illustrators who brought the words in these little books to life.
I worked as a teacher/counsellor for 32 years and am a mother and grandmother. Students in classes from K-12 whom I have taught, and my children and grandchildren who continue to teach me, have inspired my work. I am very grateful for this passion project.
"I would give every family I know a copy of your book, whether they are struggling or not. Your book is an amazing, inspiring gift to the world Pat. I wish I could give your book to every person I know. Everyone deserves to feel and to know they are amazing. Every person needs to hear this about themselves. Self-esteem and a positive view of oneself seems to be in short supply these days. If your book can give that to even one person on this planet of ours, you will have made a difference."
-Tracey B, Elementary School Secretary
"Hi Pat,
Do you have a few minutes to listen to my praise and a story about your book?!?!
My family and I (my husband and our two girls, ages 15 and 3) spent Spring Break in Fairmont Hot Springs. We were wandering around Invermere and stopped in a little store. They were selling your book. My 3 year old started looking at it. I sat with her and fell in love with your book after reading the first 5-6 pages.
We left the store with your book and I read it to my little girl every day for the next 3 days. Before we headed back to the states, I returned for another copy for my friend that was expecting her first child. I couldn’t think of a better addition to her baby shower gift.
After returning home, I wanted more copies of your book but could not find them online (for some reason, I couldn’t get onto your website). I have a friend that lives in Canada so I put him to work looking for more copies. He found 2 stores that had a total of 3 copies left, so he sent them to me.
I am the secretary at an elementary school, and I am lucky enough to share my days with 400 children that I find amazing in so many ways. We have one student in particular that has been experiencing some severe anxiety issues and has been unable to come to school for weeks. He started to make attempts to return to school by coming to the office in the mornings with his dad to say hi to me. He recently has progressed to sitting at a desk in the office with his dad and doing school work for about 15 minutes.
I gave him a copy of your book on Monday with an inscription inside that told him I thought he was strong and brave and so amazing, and that I was proud of him. His dad broke down and cried when he started to read the book to his son. Which made his son cry, which in turn had me crying as well.
I gave my second copy to another family at my school that are dear friends of mine. This family struggles everyday with family issues. They are a very strong, courages family. Their son has Autism. Dad is suffering from some health issues.
In case you haven’t noticed, I would give every family I know a copy of your book, whether they are struggling or not. Your book is an amazing, inspiring gift to the world Pat. I wish I could give your book to every person I know. Everyone deserves to feel and to know they are amazing. Every person needs to hear this about themselves. Self-esteem and a positive view of oneself seems to be in short supply these days. If your book can give that to even one person on this planet of ours, you will have made a difference.
My last copy I gave to our school counselor today. I then sat down and tried some internet searches and finally found your website. The one book order is to replace the book I gave to the counselor. She said if I could find another copy I could replace it using her school funds. The other order (5 books) are for me to give away, again! But I’m keeping one for myself, because the copy I originally bought is already showing some wear and tear. I read it to my little girl every day! I also really love the illustrations and am awed by the story behind them.
But I would love a copy of My Magical Night Mare if you don’t mind substituting it. Thank you for the offer!
So, there’s my story about your book. My thanks to you, Pat, and your amazing illustrator, for this beautiful gift!
With my sincerest gratitude." -Tracy B
Here is a touching testimonial I received for my recently published children’s book, “My Magical Night Mare.” If anyone else has any testimonials, send them my way. I love to hear the stories and I think it is fun to share them on this blog! Thanks for letting me share Zander’s story!
"I hope that you are even half as pleased with the outcome of your book
as we are. My son, Zander, absolutely adores it. He is 2 1/2 years old
now, and he doesn’t yet understand the concept of a “nightmare” being
a bad dream–he just knows this term to mean “his” special horse.
At one point while his grandmother was still in town, we were talking
about something (I can’t remember what) and she said something like,
“Oh, what a nightmare that was!” Zander overheard her and ran to get
his book, saying, “This is MY night mare! I LOVE my night mare!”
